In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

The preview reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
